Greenwood – 23 June 1882

Editors Times: The hurried flight of time is rolling in upon us the 106th anniversary of our national independence a day that will be commemorated as long as the stars and stripes float abouve us, or the pulsations of the last loyal heart coast to beat on American soil.

Greenwood is to befittingly celebrate that day and honor that flag which but a score of years ago our enemies attempted to trail in the dust.

A preliminary meeting has been had of the citizens of Greenwood whereby it was unanimously agreed that we celebrate the coming 4th, and the various officers and committees were duly appointed.

President of the Day, M. B. Warner.

Vice Presidents – Robt. Schofield, J. C. Gwin, Loyal; E. A. Eaton, Longwood; G. C. Andres.

Maj. – G. W. Hubbell, Orator.

Capt. A. S. Eaton, Marshal of the Day.

Dr. H. J. Thomas, Reader of the Declaration of Independence.

Rev. C. C. Swartz, Chaplain.

Finance Committee 0 S. M. Andrews, chairman, H. M. Weston, secretary, H. M. Weston, treasurer.
