News: Maple Works (18 July 1882) Surnames: Williams, Ure, Reed Source: Neillsville Times (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 18 July 1882 Maple Works – 1 July 1882 [too late for publication last week.] Editors Times: Maple works has a pool and billiard hall in the lower part of the furniture shop. At our special school meeting held last week, it was voted to build the proposed school house for two departments. County Superintendant Doolittle attended the meeting and aided in making some of the faint hearted understand the advantages of a graded school. We are sorry to record the fact that George Williams, one of the oldest settlers of Clark County, is dangerously ill. His illness is caused by a hurt he received early in the spring, by a falling tree. We notice that Mr. George Ure has erected a windmill pump on his farm which greatly improves the appearances of his premises. Our Charley succeeded in selling the mower to Mr. Thomas Reed after the contest at his place last Tuesday. He expresses a regret that all that machines expected were not present. For some unknown reason two or three machines that were to be present, did not put in an appearance. *Rest cut off.* |
