News: Unity Units (12 Sept. 1882) Surnames: Barker, Petrie, Pettet, Williams, Gray, Oker, Cook, Crawford, Ransom Source: Neillsville Times (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 12 Sept. 1882 Unity Units Rev. Charles Barker preached his farewell sermon to a large audience on Sunday evening, Sept. 4th. The elder have many warm friends in this circuit who with him a pleasant and prosperous journey through life. Miss Edith Petrie returned last Friday after a two week’s visit in Milwaukee. A new side walk from the Mill Co’s Boarding house to J. A. Pettet’s store on West Railroad Street had lately been built. Mr. Williams, who had been running the stave mill on the Popple for O. Gray, has moved his family to town and rented a house of J. A. Pettit. Mrs. Oker and daughter of Iowa have been visiting her sister, Mrs. J. H. Cook, for the last two weeks. Messrs. Crawford & Ransom are busily at work putting in a portable saw mill here. The donation held at the Odd Fellow’s hall on Wednesday evening for the benefit of Elder Barker, was a financial Success. J. A. Pettie has just received a large stock of furniture. -- Occasional.
