L. B. Hills of Madison, Grand Secretary of the I. O. O. F., of Wis. was the guest of J. H. Cook last Saturday. C. Healy has traded his house and lot, near the Methodist church, for the store building, where he now keeps store, owned by N. C. Ransom. Rosenfeld & Neumann have lately purchased a hay press and are now having a large hay barn built on their place. The boys bid fair to eclipse any business formerly done in Unity. Mrs. Salter returned home Saturday after a month’s visit with parents and friends in Madison. J. A. Pettet has lately received a car load of stoves, and is rapidly disposing of the same at very reasonable figures. The south bound freight Monday morning killed two of the Mill CO’s large oxen and wounded a third. This is attributed to carelessness and a spirit of pleasure on the part of the train hands. Supt. Greene speaks in very complimentary terms of the prompt and ready answers given by the scholars of the high school who attended his examination, held here on the 12th and 13th. Messrs. Ransom & Crawford have the ground and foundation work ready for their new saw mill, which they expect every day. Dr. N. W. Briggs purchased N. C. Ransom’s house and lots adjoining A. Petrie’s and fitted up an office in the front of the same. Will Warren and M. O. Olson are again rusticating in town. S. A. Cook spent a few days in town last week. He is making preparations for the winters logging.
