BioM: Becken, Darlene (1950) Surnames: DECKEN SCHJONEMAN HOFFMAN KESTER SCHULZ Source: MARATHON COUNTY REGISTER (Unity, Clark County, Wis.) 10/20/1950 Becken, Darlene (Marriage - 14 Oct. 1950) Miss Darlene Becken, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Halver Becken, Colby, and Gordon J. Schjoneman, son of Mrs. Edith Schjoneman, Unity, were united in marriage in a ceremony performed at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby at 3:30 o’clock last Saturday afternoon by the Rev. Otto Hoffman. The couple is now on a trip in western states and will reside in North Bend, Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kester, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, were the only attendants. The bride chose for her wedding a hunter green suit with a small white hat veiled in brown, and brown accessories. The suit was interestingly fashioned with a three-tiered lapel collar and at one side she fastened a corsage of white tube roses, Talisman roses and yellow pompoms. She wore a rhinestone pendant and matching earrings. Mrs. Kester was attired in a wine suit accented with a corsage of yellow roses, white tube roses and pink carnations. The matron of honor completed her attire with accessories of brown. Before the service, Donald Schulz, Colby, sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” by Malotte, and “God Gave Me You.” The wedding supper was served in the church parlors at 5:30 o’clock for the immediate family. At night the couple was honored at a dance in Walter’s Pavilion. The bride, a graduate of the Colby High School, was employed by the A. F. Zilmer company in Colby. The groom, who attended Unity High, has been employed by the Strechert Lumber and Supply in Abbotsford. The Register joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life. |
