Heindl, Wilfred (17 Dec 1930 – 27 May 2007)

Wilfred Heindl, 76, Dorchester, died Sunday, May 27th, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, Marshfield, under Ministry Home Hospice Care.

Visitiation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 1st, at Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. with a military service following by the Colby VFW Post 2227 and Dorchester American Legion Post 517.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2nd at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Father Paul Gitter will preside.

Wilfred was born December 17th, 1930, in Dorchester to Hubert and Theresa (Dessl) Heindl.

He served his country in the US Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned home to take over the family farm until he retired in 1991.

Wilfred and Elizabeth Weber were married October 21st, 1967 in Milan.

He enjoyed bowling, driving tractor and working in the woods. Wilfred also served on the board for the former Dorchester Cooperative for six years, with two years as president. He served 20 years for the Town of Mayville, with 16 years as the chairman. Wilfred was a member of the Dorchester Cemetery board for several years and was a member of the Wisconsin Town’s Association, the Catholic, Order of Foresters and St. Louis Catholic Church.

Wilfred was the commander for four years and chaplain for 10 years for the Dorchester American Legion Post 517 as well as the county commander of the American Legion for two years. He was a member of Colby VFW Post 2227.

In his retirement years, Wilfred delivered the Marshfield Buyers Guide and worked at the Town of Mayville recycling center.

Wilfred is survived by his wife Betty of Dorchester, his children, Margaret (Pat) Mateer, Abbotsford, Norbert (Marcia) Heindl, Richardson, TX, Joanne (James) Juedes, Ringle and Thomas Heindl, Athens; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Cecelia (Celia) Feldbruegge, Dorchester and Gertrude Rozek, Milwaukee; two brothers, Clemence (Margaret) Heindl, Medford and Evarist Heindl, Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norbert, Lawrence and Joseph Heindl; three sisters, Matilda Gonnering, Catherine Pinter and Sister Bernette Heindl.
