Hrunek, Josephine (19 MAR 1863 – 26 DEC 1935)

Dorchester friends were saddened this week to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. James Hrunek, who passed away at her home one mile south and two mile west of the village (Dorchester, Clark Co., Wis.) in the town of Mayville, Thursday evening at nine o’clock, Dec. 26, 1935. Death was due to chronic myocarditis. Funeral services were held Monday at 9:30 in the morning at the home and at the St. Louis Catholic Church at 10 o’clock, with the Rev. Clement Haines officiating.

Interment was made in the Memorial Cemetery with Richard Keller, Albert Beck, Herman Krase, Henry Beisner, Olaf Skoog and Albert Lindau acting as pallbearers.

Josephine Novy was born at Chomle Radniz, Bohemia, on March 19, 1863 and was 72 years, 9 months and 7 days old at time of death. She came to the United States in July of 1888 and on Feb. 21, 1892 she was married to James Hrunek at Chicago. They made their home in Chicago until 1901 when they moved to their present farm home near Dorchester.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hrunek, and who with their father survive. Mrs. Hrunek always took an active interest in church work until the past several years when illness kept her from outside activities. She has made a host of friends in her stay here who will greatly miss her and who join with us in offering deepest sympathy to the family.

Besides her husband she leaves five children, Mrs. Mary Brousek, Chicago, Frank Hrunek, Chicago, James Hrunek at home, Mrs. Anna Fitzlaff, Chicago, and Joseph Hrunek, Curtiss; nine grandchildren, Misses Mamie and Mildred, Edward and James Brousek, Faun Joyce and Vergie Jane Hrunek, and Rose Fitzlaff, of Chicago, and Marjorie Ann and Marion June Hrunek of Curtiss. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Frank Klima, Chicago, and one sister in Bohemia, and one brother, Joseph Novy of Chicago.

Out of town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hrunek and family, Mrs. Anna Fitzlaff, Mrs. Frank Brousek, Mrs. Frank Klima and Joseph Novy, all of Chicago.
