Surnames: Deforth, Porter, McCormac, Lafferty, Smith ---Source: Guthrie News Leader (Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma) Sunday, May 6, 2007 Deforth, Roman (January 17, 1916 - May 4, 2007) Graveside funeral services for Roman Deforth of Guthrie, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2007 at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Roman was born January 17, 1916 in Thorpe[Thorp], Wis. where he lived until he moved to Guthrie in 1970 and passed away on May 4, 2007 in Oklahoma City. For the past few years he has lived in the Norman Oklahoma Veterans Center. He was a lifelong member of the Church of God. On January 4, 1970 he was married to Frances Porter and they resided all their married life in Guthrie. Roman was in the United States Army from 1941 to 1944 and then a salesman for 25 years for Acco Feed and Seed in Wisconsin. Upon moving to Guthrie, he worked for the Oklahoma State Highway Department. He was an avid gardener and raised lots of vegetables and made friends for a number of years when selling his vegetables. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances and his brother Myron Deforth. Roman is survived by step-son Merle Porter and wife Shirley of Guthrie, step-daughter Marsha McCormac and husband Bob of Broken Arrow, Okla., nephew Gary Deforth of Athens, Wis., four step-grandchildren Dena Porter of Guthrie, Sheila Lafferty and husband Eddie of Guthrie, Kyle Porter and wife Julia of Guthrie, and Meredith McCormac and fiance’ Adam Smith of Washington, D.C., and six step-great grandchildren Da’Lynn Porter, Mariah Porter, Elijah Lafferty, Caitlyn Porter, Kirstynn Lafferty, and Kyla Lafferty all of Guthrie and other relatives and friends. |
