BioM: Ockerlander, Ruth (1936)
Surnames: OCKERLANDER MELVIN LENZ ANDERSON ---Source: WEEKLY CLARION (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 05/29/1936 Ockerlander, Ruth (27 MAY 1936) In an early summer wedding, which took place at the Marathon County Courthouse at Wausau Wednesday afternoon, Miss Ruth Ockerlander, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ockerlander, became the bride of Francis J. Melvin, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Melvin of Abbotsford. The service was read by Judge Geo. J. Leicht at 3 o’clock. The bride was tastily attired in a navy blue suit of silk, trimmed in pink and wore a navy hat, slippers, purse and gloves to match. A shoulder corsage of early summer flowers completed her outfit. Her bridesmaid, Miss Wilma Lenz of Colby, wore an aquamarine dress in tailored style and trimmed in white. Her slippers and gloves were white and she also wore a should bouquet of mixed flowers. The groom was attended by Gay Anderson of Abbotsford. Following the ceremony a wedding supper was served at the home of the bride’s parents at 5:30 with covers laid for twenty-five guests. The house and tables were beautifully decorated with cut flowers and a large decorated wedding cake served as centerpiece for the bridal table. In the evening a wedding dance was given at the Abbotsford Armory with a large crowd in attendance. The bride, who graduated from the Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) High School with the class of 1933, is one of Dorchester’s most popular young ladies. During the past few years, following her graduation, she has been employed at the Rutzky General Store as clerk and as correspondent for the Marshfield paper. The groom is also well known here and their many friends join us in wishing them many years of happiness and prosperity on their life’s journey. Out of town relatives and friends attending the reception were Mr. and Mrs. George Hempfner and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Harley German and family of Withee, Mr. and Mrs. James Melvin and family, Roland Gash, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weideman of Abbotsford. |
