Nixdorf, Albert & Marie (40th – 21 JUN 1936)

About forty friends and relatives greeted Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nixdorf and a surprise party Sunday at their home in honor of their fortieth wedding anniversary. Since their marriage on Sunday, June 21, 1896, this is the first time that Mr. and Mrs. Nixdorf’s anniversary has fallen on Sunday.

Another unusual instance regarding the anniversary is that after forty years, the three bridesmaids and three attendants are still living. Mrs. Nixdorf’s attendants were her sister, Miss Emma Schaus, the present Mrs. Louis Limburg of Appleton, her cousin, Miss Martha Schaus, the present Mrs. Martha Steinbach of Mayville; and her friend, Miss Anna Gutwasser who is now Mrs. Anna Hahn of Eau Claire. The groomsmen were his brother, John of Chicago, Mrs. Nixdorf’s brother, John Schaus of Wausau and Paul Benzmann of Milan. Only two of the attendants were unable to attend Sunday’s reception.

The days was spent socially and cards were played. Dinner, supper and midnight luncheon were served and the Nixdorf’s received many wishes for the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary ten years hence.

Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Limburg, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Refeld and son, Roger, of Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Waldhart, Herman Waldhart, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nixdorf of Stetsonville; Mrs. Bertha Goetsch and son, Herbert, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Goenz of Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schaus and daughter, Beatrice, John and Jake Baker of Westboro; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schaus, Mr. and Mrs. C. Holtman, Mrs. Albert Marshke, daughter Arlene, and son Billy of Rib Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schaus and daughter Thelma, Mr. and Mrs. William Waldhart and family, and A. Tarr of Colby.

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Nixdorf, daughter Marion and son Ronald, and Mr. and Mrs. Gust Diering of Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Benzmann of Milan; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Goetsch and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Brown and son Dicky of Wausau; Mrs. Anna Klemp of Antigo and Mr. and Mrs. Gust Nixdorf and daughter Aurelia.

The Clarion joins the many friends of the Nixdorf’s in congratulation them on their anniversary and in wishing that they will celebrate many more anniversaries.
