Nixdorf, Albert H. (27 APR 1874 – 3 AUG 1936)

Funeral services will be held this Friday afternoon for Albert h. Nixdorf, who passed away suddenly at his home one and one-half miles southeast of here Monday afternoon at 4:30 following a lingering illness. Mr. Nixdorf had been in ill health since a stroke two years ago, although he had been able to help with work on the farm. His health continued to fail this spring but it was only the past month that he was seriously ill. His passing came quickly Monday afternoon caused by a stroke of apoplexy following acute arterial sclerosis.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. J. Brandt, pastor of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, at the home at 1:30 this afternoon and at the church at 2 o’clock. Pallbearers will be Oscar Schrader, Gust Busse, Clarence Van Ess, Gust Doering of Athens, Carl Lucksteau of Milwaukee and Herman Marquardt.

Albert Henry Nixdorf was born at Milwaukee April 27, 1874, and was 62 years, 3 months and 6 days old at time of death. About fifty years ago he, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Nixdorf and family, came to Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), settling on the home farm, two miles south and one and one-half miles west, where Mr. Nixdorf lived until after his marriage.

On June 21, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Maria Schaus of Dorchester at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they spent three years at Ashland where Mr. Nixdorf was employed. Returning to Dorchester, the Nixdorfs settled on their present farm home where they have lived for the past thirty-seven years.

Seven children were born to the Nixdorfs. One child passed away in infancy, and one daughter, Alice, Mrs. Paul Harder, died in 1930. Two daughters, Mrs. Fred Neidhold, nee Eleanora, of Chicago, and Mrs. Arnold Waldhart, nee Elna, of Stetsonville, and three sons, Ed of Stetsonville, Herb of Athens and Clarence at home, with their mother, survive him. He also leaves six grandchildren, Marion and Ronald Nixdorf, Athens; Joyce Harder and Laram Waldhart, Stetsonville; and Nanette and Frederick Neidhold of Chicago, and three brothers, Ernest Nixdorf of Los Angeles, Calif., John Nixdorf of Chicago, and Gust Nixdorf of Dorchester, besides a host of friends and neighbors who mourn his passing.

Always active in public affairs, Mr. Nixdorf served the town of Mayville several years in the capacity of assessor. He has also been a member of the Joint District No. 1 school board for the past twenty-five years, serving as clerk or treasurer at the annual school meeting. His quiet humor and keen mind made him the center of a large group of friends who join with us in offering deepest sympathy to his family in their loss.
