Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the M.B. Brecke home and at 2:30 at the Salem Evangelical Church for Norma Brecke who passed away at her home in the town of Deer Creek Thursday morning following a nine and one-half month illness. Norma contracted scarlet fever this spring and has been ill since with heart trouble and other complications.

Services was conducted by the Rev. L.G. Thiel of Sparta and the Rev. M.J. Le Count. Interment took place at the Memorial Cemetery, with Clyde Pope, Vernon Underwood, Melvin and Vernon Brecke, Harold Berg and Tony Laski acting as pallbearers. Flower girls were Ruth Umlauft, Patricia Metz, Myrtle Herman, Lucille and Joyce Pope, Edith Meyer, Gladys and Audrey Brecke, Valerie and Ione Paff and Mavis Berg.

Norma Leone Brecke was born April 14, 1923, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin B. Brecke. She spent her childhood on the home farm and attended Draper school until last year when she was forced to discontinue because of illness. She was a faithful member of the Sunday school and services at the Little White Church, and through her sweet disposition came to be dearly loved by all who came in contact with her.

She is survived by her parents, two sisters, Ellen La Nae and Mary, and one brother, Edward. Two sisters preceded her in death; one sister, Myrtle, dying in infancy, and another sister, Mable, passing away in 1931 at the age of sixteen.

Special music was furnished by Les Saxe of Holway, Mrs. Albert Fisher and daughter, Gertrude, who sang “Looking This way” at the home and “Gathering Buds” and “We’ll Say Good Night Her but Good Morning Up There” at the church services. Miss Mable Gauerke of Athens sand, “When the World Forgets” during the service.

The many friends of the Brecke family join with us in offering sincerest sympathy to the family.
