Hoefs, Martha (Marriage – 17 Nov. 1932)

Zion’s Lutheran church, at Stratford was the scene of a pretty wedding when Miss Martha Hoefs, the daughter of August Hoefs, Stratford, became the bride of Reinhold H. Wucherpfennig of Colby. The ceremony was performed Thursday, Nov. 17, at 1:30 o’clock, by the Rev. T. E. Diemer. Preceding the service Mrs. Otis Ferrel sang, “We Walk Together With You and I,” and the wedding march, “Romance,” was played.

Miss Rose Punke, Edgar, served as maid of honor and Miss Frieda Schmidt acted as bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Charles Hoefs, brother of the bride, and Henry Hoefs, a cousin of the bride. Another brother of the bride, Edward Hoefs, and a brother-in-law of the bride, Bernard Custer, served as ushers.

The bride was attired in a beautiful ankle length gown of white satin with Spanish lace trim. She wore a tulle veil held in place by a headdress of white buds, and carried a bouquet of carnations and pompoms. Miss Punke was dressed in pink flat crepe with headband to match, while Miss Schmidt wore a gown of green crepe. Both wore shoulder bouquets.

Following the ceremony a reception for 100 guests was held at the home of the bride’s father. Decorations for the occasion were pink, green and white streamers.

Mr. and Mrs. Wucherpfennig went to housekeeping immediately on a farm near Colby, Route 1.
