Obit: Kimball, Phebe A. #3 (1841 – 1886)
Surnames: Kimball, Towsley ---Source: Neillsville Times (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 22 June 1886 Kimball, Phebe A. (*12 Sept. 1841 – 16 June 1886) *Birth date done on date calculator. Kimball – At her home in Pine Valley, three miles west of Neillsville, June 16, 1886, Mrs. Phebe A. Kimball, aged 44 years, 9 months and 4 days. She was the daughter of Dr. M. M. Towsley, and was born in Summit Co., Ohio. Her marriage to Mr. J. A. Kimball took place near Waukesha, Wis., Sept. 2, 1862. For many years she had been a residence of Clark County, where she was widely known and respected for her lovable traits of character. In 1878 she united with the Presbyterian church of Neillsville, and although failing health did not permit her attendance upon public worship, during the last few years of her life, she still manifested a deep interest in the affairs of the church. Five children, two sons and three daughters, are now left to feel a mother’s loss. Her father, a long resident of Clark County, now lives at Olivet, Pierce County. His failing health did not permit of his attendance at her funeral. Her disease was consumption, which had long preyed upon her system. But she was able only a few weeks since to ride a mile or two for exercise. She clung to life with a wonderful tenacity. Her home and her family were dear to her. Patiently she suffered, and hopefully she died. Her funeral was attended from the Presbyterian Church on Friday last, attended by a large concourse of friends and relatives. The Rebekah Lodge, of which she was a member, attended in rull regalia. Thus one after another depart, the family and friends have the tender sympathies of both church and lodge, and one and all unite in pronouncing her memory blessed. |
