Schoengrund, Lauretta (1 AUG 1939)

An impressive ceremony in St. John’s Lutheran Church at Doylestown, Miss Lauretta Schoengrund, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schoengrund, and Vernon Schaefer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schaefer were united in matrimony at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon August 1.

The double-ring ceremony was performed by Rev. H. M. Warnke. Immediately after the bridal party entered the church to the strain of Lohengrin’s Wedding March, played by Mrs. Wm. Strehmel Jr., the Misses Mildred and June Rose Schoengrund, sisters of the bride sang “I Love You Truly”. Preceding the ceremony they sang “I Promise You”. The singers wore floor length taffeta dresses of pink and peach.

The entire bridal party was attired in white. This made a striking picture in contrast with the display of assorted flowers, which bedecked the front of the church.

The bride given in marriage by her father was attired in a floor length dress of white chiffon. Her tulle veil was attached to a wing-shaped crown in the center of which was a sprig of orange blossoms. She wore a necklace which is a family heirloom and is over 100 years old.

The bride’s sister, Isabelle was maid of honor. She wore a floor length dress of white organza and carried a bouquet of mixed flowers. Miss Luella Schaefer, the groom’s sister, wore a floor length dress of white organza and carried a similar bouquet.

The groom’s attendants were his brother Ernest and Mr. Floyd Janney, a brother-in-law of the bride.

The ushers were Mr. Victor Witthun of Columbus and Mr. Harold Wachler of Fond du Lac.

The bride’s mother wore a dress of navy blue chiffon. The groom’s mother wore a dress of blue crepe.

Following the ceremony a wedding dinner for the immediate families and intimate friends and served at the home of the bride’s parents

In the evening a reception was held in the firemen’s Park Pavillion at Columbus where their many friends gave them best wishes.

After a honeymoon to the Yellowstone National Park, Mr. and Mrs. Schaefer will reside near Columbus.

The bride is a graduate of Fall River High School and the Columbus County Normal School. The past two years she has been a successful teacher in the county’s rural schools.

Mrs. Schaefer was entertained at showers given by Mrs. Wm. Schoengrund, Mrs. Wm. Strehmel Jr., and the Misses Meta and Elsie Gernetzky.

Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Otto Rucks of Pewaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Whaeler, and Mrs. Emma Whaeler of Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Janney, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burmeister of Waukesha; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Steekstad of Stoughton.

BRIDE BORN NEAR LOYAL VILLAGE

The above was received Monday by J. R. Steiner, cousin of the bride, Lauretta Schoengrund, born near Loyal Village, was only two years old when Paul Schoengrund family moved from here to Doylestown. Among other relatives of the bride here are her aunt, Mrs., Emilie Jenni (a sister of the bride’s father,); two uncles, Arthur and Carl Schoengrund; and another cousin, C. H. Steiner. The bride’s mother is an aunt of J. R. and C. H. Steiner. Visiting here, Lauretta became acquainted with folks of the community. Friendships also resulted from her mingling with the people living in the community where she was born.

The Tribune joins with the community in wishing the newlyweds happiness.
