Surnames: Kell, Wolfe, Kubera, Rau, Blumenstein, Hatlestad, Purdy ---Source: Thorp Courier (Thorp, WI.) August 1, 2007 Kell, Roger Charles (October 19, 1945 - July 29, 2007) With/ Flag Roger C. Kell, age 61, of Withee, died on Sunday, July 29, 2007 in the emergency room at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. No services will be held. Visitation will be held at the Thorp Funeral Home on Friday, August 3, 2007 from 4:00 pm. until 7:00 p.m. Roger Charles Kell was born October 19, 1945 in Wausau, WI to Norman and Irene (Wolfe) Kell. He was raised and received his education in Medford, graduating from Medford High School in 1963. Roger enlisted in the Wisconsin National Guard on May 31, 1963 and served until March 3, 1069. He was united in marriage on October 31, 1964 to Mary Ellen Kubera at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. After their marriage, Roger worked at his parents’ grocery store, Kell’s Super Market, in Withee, and drove truck for Badger State Western. He later worked for Marathon Can Company and Marathon Electric in Wausau and at Liberty Homes in Dorchester. Roger has been employed with the City of Thorp for the last 24 years and was currently the water plant operator. He was a member of the Black River Sportsman’s Club and Whitetails Unlimited and had many interests, but especially fishing, hunting, car racing, and camping with his wife. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary Ellen of Withee; his four children: Bryan Kell of Antigo, Bruce Kell of Fairchild, Tracy (Brian) Rau of Owen, and Bradley (Jody) Kell of Ladysmith; five grandchildren: Amanda Rau, Katlin Rau, Dylan Kell, Payton Kell and Talan Kell; three sisters: Barbara Blumenstein of Owen, Charlotte (David) Hatlestad of Withee, and Cheryl (Jay) Purdy of Withee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be reunited in heaven along side his mother and father, Irene and Norman Kell. Roger was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and a friend of many. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Roger will surely be missed, as he touched so many lives and hearts of those he came in contact with.
