Smitke, Cecelia A. #2 (15 SEP 1937)

On September 15th, 1937, the fifty-fifth birthday of the bride’s father, Frank Smitke, Cecelia Amelia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smitke, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of John B. Bryan, son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Bryan, Neillsville (Clark Co.). The ceremony was read by the Rev. Charles D. Brady at Abbotsford, in the Rectory of St. Bernard, after the bridal party attended the 8 o’clock mass.

The bride’s gown was made of white silk satin with an all-over lace trim with a long train. Over the dress she wore a circular finger-tip veil which fell from a cap of orange buds. In her bouquet were white roses, baby breath and asters.

Miss Virginia Haas, cousin of the bride, as maid of honor, and Miss Alvera Hubbard, friend of the bride and groom, as bridesmaid, were gowned alike in silk satin, only the color was different. Miss Haas’ gown was blue and green with accessories of peach. Miss Hubbard’s gown was peach colored with accessories of blue and green. Both carried gladiolas and asters. Frederick, brother of the bride, was best man and the usher was Harvey Boie, cousin of the bride. The groom and his attendants wore oxford grey suits.

A wedding breakfast at the bride’s home followed the ceremony. The wedding dinner was served at the Silver Dome Club for the immediate families and the reception and dance followed.
