Oldenberg, Gladys (Marriage - 12 June 1936)

A latticed arch flanked with baskets of iris, peonies, ferns and bridal wreath, on the lawn of the George Oldenberg home at Medford, provided a lovely background for the marriage of their daughter, Gladys, and Gerald Scott, son of Mrs. Alma Scott, Unity, which took place at three o’clock Friday afternoon. The Rev. C. Paul Nulton, pastor of the Methodist church of Colby, read the service.

“The Heavenward March” was played for the wedding march by Miss Thelma Haga, who also played the accompaniment for Mrs. Nulton and Mrs. Alma Scott who sang, “Sing, Sing, Bird on the Wing.”

In addition to the bridesmaid and groomsmen, Mabel and Nyle Oldenberg, little Eunice Nulton, daughter of the pastor, served as ringbearer, carrying the ring in a calla lily placed on a tiny white satin pillow. Marlene Fetzer, Unity, was the flower girl.

The bride wore a lovely garden frock of heaven-blue chiffon organdy, trimmed in pink, and sandals of blue and carried lilies of the valley, roses and larkspur. Her bridesmaid, in a white crepe ensemble, wore a corsage of rosebuds and lilies of the valley.

Guests at the ceremony and reception included a boyhood friend of the bridegroom, Sewell Cook, and his wife, Unity, Miss Thelma Haga, St. Paul, an intimate friend of the bride, Mrs. C. Paul Nulton and daughter, Eunice, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Anderson and Mrs. Alma Scott, Unity. A dinner was served indoors.

The groom has been engaged to teach in the Colby high school this coming year and will take the place of Mr. A. C. Tweit, The couple will spend the next few weeks at Stevens Point where Mr. Scott will attend summer school. The bride taught the past five years in the primary department of the Unity grade school. They will make their home in Colby after high school re-opens.
