Zillmann, Marie Ann (Marriage – 29 Aug. 1936)

One of the pretty church weddings of the late summer was that of Miss Marie Ann Zillmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Zillmann, Colby, and Glenn Byron Lein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur K. Lein, of Whitewater, which took place at 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church of Colby, the Rev. Edwin Becker officiating.

Lighted tapers and large baskets of mixed garden flowers against a background of ferns provided a lovely setting for the ceremony. The wedding marches were played by Mrs. R. G. Salter and preceding the nuptial service C. A. Nelsen sang “I Love You Truly.”

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white triple sheer crepe, hand made, designed with short sleeves. Her veil, which was of rose point over lace and had been worn by her cousin, Mrs. Steven Polkenhorn, Denver, Colo., the former Ruth Zillmann of Thorp, was arranged in cap effect. Her shower bouquet was composed of white and yellow Briarcliffe roses.

Mrs. Donald Zillmann, Eau Claire, the bride’s sister-in-law, and Miss Carol Lein, Whitewater, sister of the bridegroom, were bridesmaids.

Mrs. Zillmann was dressed in a floor length frock of white mousseline de soie over maize taffeta and wore accessories of maize. Miss Lein’s gown was of white mousseline de soie over brown taffeta with matching accessories. Both attendants wore wreaths of daisies and carried arm bouquets of brown-eyed Susans.

Donald Zillmann, Eau Claire, and H. Richard Zillmann, Colby, brothers of the bride, attended the groom.

Mrs. Zillmann, the bride’s mother, wore a gown of taupe faille with accessories of DuBonnet. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in an ensemble of black poiu de soie.

A reception followed the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents and a 6:30 o’clock dinner was served at the Hotel Charles at Marshfield for the bridal party and immediate families. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Arthur K. Lein and son, Arthur, and daughter, Carol, Whitewater, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Zillmann, Eau Claire, and Miss Magna Bjerking, Spring Valley.

Mr. and Mrs. Lein have departed for a trip through northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. For traveling the bride chose a navy blue suit with accessories to match.

The couple will live in Whitewater where Mr. Lein, who is a licensed mortician, is affiliated with the Lein furniture company. The bride is a graduate of the Colby high school. She attended Lawrence college at Appleton and graduated this summer from the home economics department of the Whitewater State Teachers’ college. She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
