Draeger, Henrietta M. (Marriage – 2 Sept. 1936)

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at St. John’s Evangelical church in Colby Wednesday, September 2nd, at twelve o’clock noon, when Miss Henrietta M. Draeger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Draeger, became the bride of Rev. Edwin Becker, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Becker, Sr., of Stevens Point and Rev. E. E. Schieler of Athens officiated at the services. Miss Lauretta Allmann of Colby acted as bridesmaid and the groom was attended by Mr. Alfred Becker of Stevens Point. Paul Draeger, Jr. and Edward Allmann acted as ushers and Miss Charlotte Cosgrove of Marshfield, Wis., was flower girl.

The bridal march was played by Miss Agnes Klimpke of Athens, Wis. A solo entitled, “O Promise Me,” was sung by Mr. George Becker, Jr., of Stevens Point, Wis., a brother of the groom. Miss Hazel Allmann of Birnamwood, Wis., a cousin of the bride, also sang a solo entitled, “At Dawning.” The bride was given in marriage at the altar by her father.

The bride was attired in a beautiful dress of white satin with long train, the neckline trimmed with seed pearls. The veil of white net was trimmed with lace. The crown of the veil was made of small seed pearls to match the neckpiece of the dress. Her bouquet consisted of white roses with white swansonia. The bridesmaid wore a dress of light blue taffeta with hat to match and gold accessories. Her bouquet consisted of yellow roses with white swansonia. The flower girl, who carried a basket of mixed flowers, wore a pink net ruffled dress with blue satin headband. All dresses were floor length.

The newlyweds left immediately on a wedding trip to St. Louis, Missouri, and will be at home after October 1st at 929 Elizabeth Ave., Marinette, Wis.

The bride was a member of the choir of St. John’s Evangelical church for many years, graduated from Colby High School in 1933 and was a teacher in St. John’s Sunday school for the past five years. She was superintendent of the same Sunday school for two years.

The groom received his college education at the College Extension Division of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He also attended summer school at Stevens Point State Teachers’ College. He is a graduate of Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, Missouri. Besides his pastoral duties in Marshfield and Colby, he also served as spiritual advisor of the Wausau Federation of Young People’s Leagues for the past two years. He also served as secretary-treasurer of the Marshfield Ministerial Association for the past year and a half.
