Tesmer, Regina (Marriage – 7 June 1937)

A double wedding of wide interest in the county was solemnized Monday morning at 9 o’clock before the altar of St. Mary’s church in Colby, which was decorated with lighted candles, flowers and ferns, by the Rev. Father Leo J. Lang when Miss Leona Steinwand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Steinwand of Colby, became the bride of Roderick Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cook, Unity, and Miss Regina Tesmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tesmer, Colby, was united in marriage with Wayne Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Davis, also of Colby.

The brides, who are cousins, selected similar gowns of white satin. They were designed in princess style with short trains and high necklines with seed pearl trimming. Their over-the-face veils, in nun’s style, were of tulle edged with corded satin caught with seed pearls. Each carried a sheaf of calla lilies.

Mr. Cook and his bride were attended by the former’s sister, Miss Elinore Cook, as maid of honor, Mrs. Walter Mueller as bridesmaid, and Leon Steinwand, brother of the bride, as best man.

Mr. Davis and his bride had as their attendants the former’s sister, Miss Myrtle Davis, as maid of honor, Miss Marie Baumgart, the bride’s cousin, as bridesmaid, and Sylvester Tesmer as best man.

Pastel shades were carried out in the mousseline d’ soie frocks of the four attendants. Miss Cook was attired in green, Mrs. Mueller in yellow, Miss Davis in blue and Miss Baumgart in pink. Their headdress face veils, in halo style, matched their frocks and they carried bouquets of sweet peas and roses in Dutch colonial style.

Streamers, of pink and white and a profusion of garden flowers decorated St. John’s parish hall for the reception and noon-day dinners served to the bridal party and the immediate families. Two large wedding cakes centered the long table and sprays of flowers were arranged through the center of the table.

A free wedding dance was given in the evening at Wiedenhoeft’s park which was largely attended by relatives and friends.

The young couples departed on a trip to the Black Hills. Upon their return both will reside in Colby. Mr. Cook plans to engage in farming and Dr. Davis is associated in the grocery business with his father.
