Gierl, Frank (7 Sept. 1876 – 26 Nov. 1937)

Frank Gierl, one of our prominent farmers and a lifetime resident of this community, died Friday night at 10:30 at the age of sixty-one years at his farm home in the town of Hull. He suffered a stroke of paralysis Wednesday afternoon, November 24. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating, and internment was made in the parish cemetery. Pall bearers were E. A. Fleischauer, Herman Wiedenhoeft, C. Joe Kraus, August Schoelzel, Nick Baer and Roman Steiber.

The deceased was born in Colby September 7, 1876, and was married to Miss Anna Rollinger of Lomira at Lomira on September 28, 1904. They made their home in the town of Hull where Mr. Gierl was engaged in the farming business. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Congregation and the Holy Name Society.

Surviving relatives are his widow and two children, Mrs. Oliver (Marie) Kesler and Nicholas Gierl of Colby and four grand children. Also four sisters and eight brothers – Mrs. Charles Seabury of Mellen, Mrs. John Dietrich of Milwaukee, Mrs. Leo Lukowicz of Colby, John, Albert and Joseph Gierl of Athens, Robert Gierl of Abbotsford and Louis, George, Killian and Ernest Gierl of Colby.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gierl and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gierl and family and John Gierl of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gierl and family of Abbotsford, Mrs. Chas. Seabury of Mellen, Mrs. Anton Rohlinger and son, Nick, of Fond du Lac, Math Rohlinger and Mary Rohlinger of Lomira, Mathis Rohlinger and Frank Klumpyan of Lomira, Mr. and Mrs. John Roth and Mrs. Valentine Fribusch of Milwaukee and Mrs. Theresa Steinl of Chicago.
