Obit: McCammant, William Henry (1872 – 1942)
Surnames: McCammant, Longenecker, Jaster, Scott, Wells, Kuehling, Schlinkert, Frantz, Cardarelle, Prock, Schrader, Susa, Foote Source: The Clark County Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 23 July 1942 McCammant, William Henry (20 Dec. 1872 – July 1942) William Henry McCammant, 69, who had been living in rooms in the Herbert Free house on South Court Street, passed away at five p.m. Wednesday evening. Although Mr. McCammant had been ill with heart trouble and hardening of the arteries for a number of years, he was up and about the house and yard most of the time. Shortly before his death, he had seated himself on the edge of the porch to rest after mowing the lawn. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 19, at the Jaster Funeral home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker performing the rites. Mrs. Jaster sang, “The Lord is My Shepherd” and “Sweetly Resting,” accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Jess Scott. The remains were carried to the last resting place in the Neillsville Cemetery by Berton Wells, Albert Kuehling, William Schlinkert, George Frantz and Joe Cardarelle, all of Neillsville and Ed. Prock, Owen. Mr. McCammant was born in Benton County, Iowa, December 20, 1872, to Absalom and Mary McCammant. He was married to Miss Lillie Schrader in Iowa County in 1901. They were the parents of three children, two of whom, Mrs. Lydia Susa and Albert, live in Neillsville, a son, Harry, died during childhood. Mr. McCammant came to Clark County about 24 years ago. He farmed near Globe until about eight years ago. Earlier in life he conducted a livery stable. He was a member of the Evangelical church and of the Yeomen Lodge while he lived in Iowa. Surviving the departed are the two children, seven grandchildren and a great grandchild also two brothers and two sisters: Anna, Mrs. Christ Schroeder, Audubon; Mary, Mrs. Joe Foote, Baker; Dave, Millersburg and Ed. Montezuma, all of the state of Iowa. Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
