Elliott, Viola M. (9 AUG 1870 – 6 SEP 1938)

Viola Matilda Elliott passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1938, at the age of 68 years.

She recently suffered a severe heart attack, although lately she had been feeling better and was seen daily by her friends about her home and garden. The word of her passing on Tuesday was a surprise to her many friends, but condolence was given the family and friends in knowing that she passed quietly away, due to a weakened heart.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow by Rev. P.F. Pfaffman from the Congregation Church. Interment will be made in the Riverside Cemetery.

Viola Matilda Elliott was born Aug. 9, 1870, at Tustin, where she spent her early childhood. Later she moved with her parents to Plainfield and still later to Chelsea, where she was living when she met and married Joseph Elliot on May 9, 1891. She lived at Chelsea with her husband for 13 years. In 1904 they moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) where she has since resided until the time of her passing.

She is survived by five children, namely, Mrs. Blanche Elliott Tolle of Chicago, Ill., and four sons, Arleigh of Eau Claire, Clifford of Chippewa Falls, Donald of Eau Claire and Kenneth of Mineral Point; also four sisters, Cora of Hancock, Stella of Nekoosa, Icy of New Smyrna, Fla., and Lena of Hancock; and three brothers, Charles, Hancock, Irvin, Cedarbrook, Minn., and Earl of Daytona Beach, Fla. One brother and three sisters have preceded her in death.

Mrs. Elliott was a woman of sincere Christian character and ideals. She was possessed of a cheerful disposition and courteous manner which endeared her to all of her many acquaintances. She was devoted to her family and to her friends. She was loyal and true. Her passing will be keenly felt among her close friends and family.
