Laabs, Mernabel (29 OCT 1938)

The Evangelical Lutheran Church at Curtiss was the scene of a colorful autumn wedding on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock, when Miss Mernabel Laabs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Laabs, became the bride of George O. Pease, son of Mrs. B. Pease of Madison.

The double ring ceremony was performed at the candlelight service by the Rev. W.L. Anderson.

The bride’s gown was of floor length autumn wine velvet and she carried a bouquet of white pom poms and yellow roses. Mrs. R. Matterson, a sister of the groom, attended the bride as maid of honor and wore a gown of Fuschiablule and carried a bouquet of pom poms and red roses. Miss Virginia Johnson as bridesmaid wore a gown of dark green velvet and carried a bouquet of pom poms and red roses.

The groom was attended by Harold Laabs, brother of the bride, and Lyle Tullis. Fritz Laabs and Rueben Burtard were the ushers.

Following the ceremony a six o’clock dinner was served to the bridal party, the immediate family and Rev. and Mrs. W.L. Anderson, at the Woodland Hotel, Owen.

Our of town guests were Mrs. B. Pease, Miss Olson, Lyle Tullis, and Mr. and Mrs. R. Matterson of Madison.

A wedding dance was given at the village hall in the evening and friends and relatives were entertained at the Laab’s home.

Mr. and Mrs. Pease will be at home to their friends at Madison, where the groom is a proprietor of the Capitol Wood Shop. The bride and groom both attended Stout Institute at Menomonie.
