Drews, Donald (03 Oct. 1923 – 01 Sept. 2007)

Donald Drews, 83, rural Marshfield, died September 13th, 2007, in the Palliative Care Unity at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services were held September 17th at Faith Lutheran Church, Marshfield. Burial was in West Spencer Cemetery, Reverend Lowell Bolstad presided.

Pallbearers were nephews Keith Trowbridge, Brian Heggelund, Lance, Troy, Alan and Craig David.

Donald was born October 3rd, 1923 to Harold and Elsie (Crossgrove) Drews.

He was a graduate of Spencer High School, class of 1941. He attended NYA School in Wausau and Manitowoc to become a machinist. Donald was employed at the Manitowoc shipyards building submarines during WW2. He returned to the family farm and this became his lifelong work.

Donald and Silveria David were married February 14th, 1948. He was a past supervisor in the Township of Spencer and of the FFA Spencer Activity board. Donald was recognized as an Outstanding Retired farmer in 1990 and service for 25 years on the Agricultural Soil Conservation Committee in Wausau.

For over 30 years, he was active on the executive board for the Township of Spencer Fire Department. Donald liked to bowl, watch sports and play sheepshead.

He is survived by his wife Sussie Drews, Marshfield; his children Charles (Charmaine) Drews, Marshfield, Sharon (Jerry) Kobs, Spencer and Dianne (Mark) Dillman, Wausau; five grandchildren and thee great-grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Elaine Kraemer and Ruby Nelson.

Maurina-Community funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
