Harms, Robert #2 (14 JAN 1860 – 8 FEB 1939)

A heart disease which had been bothersome to Robert Harms for some time proved fatal to him at his home in the town of Longwood, southwest of this city late yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Harms was 79 years of age at the time of his passing. He has been a resident of the community for a number of years. Mr. Harms is survived by one son, Vern of Owen, and one daughter, Mrs. Jess Capes of Longwood.

Funeral services were conducted Monday from the Griebenow-Weirich Funeral Parlors for the late Robert Harms, 79, who passed away at his home south of Owen Saturday, Feb. 8, 1939, due to an ailing heart. The services were conducted by Rev. J.H. Rostad. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery.

Robert Harms was born in Woodford County, Ill., on Jan. 14, 1860. He was united in marriage to Jessie Pallen in 1887, and to this union were born seven children, Allen, Emily, Fern, Clarence, Iva, Oleen and Edna.

In 1900 Mr. Harms and family moved to Indiana, where they resided for 17 years, at which time they moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.). His wife and daughter, Emily, preceded him in death.

Mr. Harms was a faithful father, a good neighbor and a devout Christian. He leaves to mourn his passing the above named children, 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother in Idaho and a host of friends.

Among those from out of town who attended the funeral services were Mrs. G. Nicholson and daughter, Maxine of Burlington, Wyo., A.B. Harms of Brook, Ind., C.B. Harms of Rochester, Ind., O.G. Harms of Chicago, Harriet Harms of St. Paul, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. E. Capes and daughter, Dorothy, of Unity.
