Young, Pauline (Marriage – 21 June 1939)

Tall standards of white peonies, delphinium, gladioli and glowing tapers decorated the altar of Our Savior’s Lutheran church at Stanley on Wednesday afternoon, June 21st, for the double ring ceremony that took place at 5 o’clock in which Miss Pauline Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Young of Stanley, became the bride of Ray H. Franz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franz, Rev. Midtlium officiating. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The wedding march from “Lohingrin” and the recessional was played by Mary Young. The bride’s sister, Naomi Young, was maid of honor and S. C. Ellickson of Madison served as best man. Before the wedding vows were exchanged, Miss Carol Franz sang “Because.” After the ceremony, “Oh Perfect Love” was rendered by a group of girls whom the bride had instructed in Sunday school.

The bride wore a white suit, turban hat, white accessories and an orchid corsage. The maid of honor was attired in a dusty pink dress with turban hat and accessories to match. Her corsage consisted of white roses and swansonians. The mother of the bride and the mother of the groom wore corsages of sweetheart roses and sweet peas.

A reception was held and a dinner was served in the beautifully decorated church parlors for the immediate families and a few friends.

The bride and groom graduated from the Colby high school with the class of 1934. The bride attended St. Olaf’s College at Northfield, Minn., and the University of Wisconsin. At present, she is employed by the Social Security Board at Madison having been transferred from Baltimore, Md. The groom is a student at the University of Wisconsin and is employed at Madison where they will reside.

The out of town guests were Miss Velta Franz of Davenport, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Young of Fuller, N.D., and Florida, Frank Young of Minneapolis and Miss Geraldine Higgins of Granton. The bride and groom have many friends in Colby and vicinity who wish them well.
