Harter, Ruth E. (Marriage – 16 Dec. 1939)

On Saturday afternoon, December 16th, at five o’clock, Miss Ruth E. Harter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Harter of Colby, became the bride of Robert K. Anderson of Chicago at the North Austin English Ev. Lutheran church of Chicago. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Otterbein.

The bride wore an ivory faille taffeta princess gown. Her finger tip veil fell from a pearl coronet. She carried a bouquet of orchids and sweet peas.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was Miss Maida Bunn of Chicago. She wore a fuchia velvet ankle length gown with accessories to match. She carried a bouquet of salmon colored gladiolas. The groom was attended by Jack Buckley of Chicago.

The bride’s mother wore an ankle length gown of blue crepe with an orchid corsage and the groom’s mother wore an ankle length gown of dubonnet crepe with a corsage of orchids.

A reception and dinner for 70 guests was given at the Svithiod Club.

The bride is a graduate of the Colby High School and she attended the State University at Madison. She was employed as supervisor of the accounting department of the Hardware Mutual Casualty Company of Chicago. The groom graduated from the Medical School of Northwestern University the day of the wedding.

The newlyweds left on a motor trip to New Orleans.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Harter of Colby, Harry Harter, Jr., of Madison and Mr. and Mrs. Jones and daughters, Betty and Marian, of Rochester, New York.
