Dahnert, Ione (Marriage – 4 Sept. 1942)

Miss Ion Dahnert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dahnert, Neillsville, and Donald Syth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Syth, Greenwood, exchanged marriage vows at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church on Friday, September 4, at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. Ben Stucki conducting the double-ring service in the presence of sixty guests.

Miss Janice Milton sang, “Because” and “Oh, Promise Me,” accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Jack Harvey.

The color scheme for the decorations was yellow, lavender, and white, the combination of colors being carried out in baskets of garden flowers and streamers.

Dressed in a lovely gown of white satin, trimmed with lace, the bride wore a beaded tiara and a white net finger-tip veil. Her bouquet was made up of white gladioli. Her sister, Elaine Dahnert, as maid of honor, was dressed in gold taffeta white another sister, Velda Dahnert, acting as bridesmaid, wore lavender taffeta. The gowns of the attendants were styled exactly liked that of the bride. They wore net shoulder veils to match the colors of their dresses. Miss Elaine’s shoulder corsage combined white asters and yellow gladioli, white and lavender asters forming Miss Velda’s shoulder corsage. Harold Humke, Greenwood, and Walter Stabnow, Colby, attended the groom.

For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Dahnert wore a dress of copen blue, the groom’s mother wearing black. Both wore corsages of golden glow and white asters.

A wedding reception, following the service, was held at the home of the bride’s parents, forty guests being in attendance. The home decorations were similar to those used at the church. A heart shaped wedding cake, decorated with yellow, lavender and white, served as the centerpiece at the dinner table.

The bride was graduated from the Neillsville High School, later working for a year and a half in the superintendent’s office of the local high school. For the past one and one-half years, she has been employed in the office of the county nurse. She also served in Four-H work for five years. Mr. Syth, who has been employed on his father’s farm, is a graduate of the Greenwood High School.

Both young people are capable and ambitious – The type of young folks who may be counted upon to carry out the promises made by them at the altar.

The couple left on a four days tour through northern Wisconsin, the bride wearing a gray suit with red accessories for her going away outfit.

They will be at home, at Greenwood, Wis., after Sept. 9, 1942.
