Glowacki, Mary (10 JUN 1876 – 27 FEB 1939)

Mrs. Paul Glowacki died at her home in the village of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on Monday, Feb. 27th, 1939, after a lingering illness. She had reached the age of 62 years, 8 months and 17 days.

Mary Kaminski was born in Poland on June 10, 1876. She came to America in 1893 and resided at Pittsburg, Pa. until 1895, when she moved to Mt. Pleasant, Pa. On June 20, 1897, she was united in marriage to Paul Glowacki and three years later the couple moved here and located on a farm in the Town of Thorp. She was the mother of fifteen children, thirteen of whom survive her, two having died in infancy. The family moved to the village in December 1925 and this has been the residence of the deceased since.

With her husband, she founded Group 646 of the Polish National Alliance here in Thorp. Her chief occupation and her greatest pride was her garden and her family. The beauty of her flowers and garden was known and enjoyed by all of the townspeople and will be greatly missed. She was a member of the Rosary Society for many years.

Surviving relatives are six sons, Ted, Matt, Anton and Leon of Thorp, Joe of Milwaukee and Stanley of Chicago; seven daughters, Mrs. Matt (Pearl) Olejniczak, Mary and Rosie of Thorp, Mrs. Alvina Barnum and Mrs. Ray (Helen) Bacher of Eau Claire, Mrs. Martin (Harriet) Rybacki and Connie of Chicago, two sisters, Angeline Swiech of Chicago, and Christine in Poland, one brother, Albert Kaminski of Thorp.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church at ten o’clock Friday morning, Rev. Stephen Dzialdkowski officiating, and interment following in the parish cemetery. She was carried into the church by her six sons. Pallbearers were: Jos. Tobola, Jos. Moczarny, Jos. Czech, John S. Bogumill, George Zukowski and Thos. Szatalowicz.
