Galoff, Mamie B. (21 OCT 1900 – 8 MAY 1939)

Mrs. Walter Galoff of the town of Taft, died of paralysis at the Victory Hospital at Stanley, Wis. on May 8th, 1939. Her sickness was of brief duration, a little over three days. She had reached the age of thirty-eight years, six months and fifteen days.

To her the struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended, and we confidently trust that like one who awakes from a troubled dream she has awakened to see life’s endless morning break and knows herself at home with all the vast throng of loved ones, missed from earth, safe about her. Her home instincts were strong here in this fevered world of disappointment. Her affection for friends and kindred was tender and abiding.

Mamie B. Grainger was born in Beaver Dam, Wis., Oct 21, 1900, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Grainger. She was united in marriage to Walter C. Galoff on Sept. 30, 1921 in Beaver Dam and two years later accompanied her husband to their new farm home northwest of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in the Town of Taft (Chippewa Co.). Here the intervening years were spent and here she brought up a family of six children.

Immediate relatives left to mourn her untimely demise are her husband, three sons, Howard, Russell and Grainger, three daughters, Helen, Shirley and Doris, her mother, Mrs. Sam Grainger, and one sister, Dorothy Grainger of Beaver Dam.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 10th, at the Plombon Funeral Home at Stanley, Rev. Gemung officiating. The body was taken to Beaver Dam, where services were held the following day at the home of the deceased’s mother and interment followed in the city cemetery.
