Cramer, Iva (12 May 1876 – 30 Sept. 1942)

Mrs. George Cramer passed away at the Wisconsin General Hospital, Madison, at two p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 1942, after an illness of about two years with a heart ailment.

Mrs. Cramer had attained the age of 66. She was born May 12, 1876, to Levi and Hannah Lowery in Richland County, Wis. Her given name was Iva.

The departed was married to George Cramer of the town of Washburn on Oct. 20, 1896. The couple lived on the farm of his parents for a time, later conducting a farm by themselves. Two children, Guy Cramer and Hazel, Mrs. George Hubing, were born to them. The Cramers moved to Neillsville about fifteen years ago.

Mrs. Cramer is survived by her husband, her son and daughter-in-law and their son, Russell, Janesville; and the son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Hubing, Neillsville, and their daughter, Mrs. William Lowe, and her husband, Long Beach, Cal. She also leaves a brother, Denver Lowery, Beloit, and a sister, Mrs. May Coulter, Janesville.

Mrs. Cramer was a member of the Cannonville church and of the Ladies Aid of that organization during the time she was a resident of Washburn Township. Aside from her busy farm life she was an active and willing worker in her church and a most helpful neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held at the Lowe Funeral home at two p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3rd, the Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. Mesdames S. G. Patey, and O. W. Schoengarth sang “Nearer, Still Nearer.” Interment was made in the Neillsville Cemetery. Frank Short, Ed. Short, John McCarl, Christ Feutz, Sam Ferguson and Logan Benderl, all of whom were neighbors of Mrs. Cramer when she lived in the Washburn community, acted as pallbearers.

Those who came from distant places for the rites are: Mrs. Norman Schroeder, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cramer and son, Janesville; Denver Lowery, Beloit; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Woodford and daughter, Margaret, and Mrs. Henry Woodford, Black River Falls.
