Obit: Boardman, Vern E. (1882 – 1940)
Surnames: Boardman, Kuester, Overman, Lubner, Hanson ---Source: THORP COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 02/08/1940 Boardman, Vern E. (5 MAR 1882 – 31 JAN 1940) Vern E. Boardman, 57, a former resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), died at the hospital at Stanley last Wednesday evening from a heart attack which he suffered a few hours earlier while on the streets of that city. Mr. Boardman has resided in Stanley since 1927 when he purchased the Oakland and Pontiac Auto Agency of MacLackan. He was born March 5th, 1882 in Thorp, the son of Mary and Willis Boardman.. On Nov. 11, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Kuester of Green Grove (Clark Co.). They moved on a farm at Eisvold where they lived until he purchased the store and cheese factory at that place in 1921. Mr. Boardman retired from active business in 1930, but in 1932 was made a trustee of the Segregated Trust of the Farmers and Merchants Bank, which position he held at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. John Overman of Stanley, and two sons, Everett of Henry, Neb., and Harold of Gehring, Neb., five grandchildren, two sisters, Cora (Mrs. Martin Lubner) and Nettie (Mrs. Carl Hanson) of St. Charles, Ill.; three brothers, Ernest of St. Charles, Ill., and Vedel and Irvin of Eisvold. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian Church at Stanley Saturday afternoon, Rev. E.S. Genung officiating, and interment was made in the Stanley Cemetery. |
