Van Dreel, Verena (Marriage – 5 Feb. 1940)

Miss Verena Van Dreel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Van Dreel of Colby, and Otto Lueschow, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Lueschow, Sr., of Edgar, were married at St. Mary’s Catholic church Monday. The nuptial mass was celebrated by Rev. L. J. Lang. The altar was graced with numerous candles and vases of roses. Ludmilla Van Dreel of Colby, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Edna Borchart of Edgar was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Virgil Van Dreel of Colby as best man and Joseph Geiger of Stratford.

The bride was attired in a dress of white satin with train, satin covered buttons down the back till the waist, lace yoke, full sleeves tapering to a point over the hand. Her long veil fell from a bonnet style cap of seed pearls and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white and pink carnations. The maid of honor wore a floor length dress of natural heather and gold slippers and headband. Her wrist corsage consisted of sweet peas. The bridesmaid wore a dress of peacock blue taffeta with full skirt with headdress to match. Her wrist corsage also consisted of sweet peas.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, the home being nicely decorated with white and blue streamers.

In the evening a free wedding dance was held at Cherokee hall. Dancing continued to one o’clock.

The couple will make their home in the town of Frankfort where the groom is engaged in farming.
