Stecker, Helen (Marriage – 27 July 1940)

A pretty wedding was performed at the St. John’s Evangelical church at Riplinger Saturday afternoon, July 27th, at 3:00 o’clock when Miss Helen Stecker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Stecker of Riplinger, became the bride of Robert Prestin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Prestin of Abbotsford. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Franklin Albrecht. Mrs. Fred Hardrath, the bride’s sister, was matron of honor and Miss Violet Gaetz of Riplinger, the bride’s cousin, was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by his brother, Harold Prestin, and the bride’s brother, Walter Stecker.

The bride was attired in a gown of white satin which buttoned to the waist, lace yoke and Queen Ann collar. Sleeves had lace inserts and came to a point over her hand. Her veil was edged in lace and fell in a long train from a tiara of seed pearls and lilies. Her bouquet consisted of roses and baby breath.

The matron of honor wore a floor length gown of pink marquisette with matching veil and headdress, a gold cross and a wrist corsage.

The bridesmaid wore a floor length gown of blue marquisette with matching veil and headdress, a gold cross and a wrist corsage.

The bridal chorus from “Lohengrin” was played by Miss Bertha Hardrath.

A reception was held at the church parlors, the parlors being nicely decorated with white, pink and blue streamers, a large wedding cake and garden flowers.

The couple will make their home at Riplinger where the groom is employed in the cheese factory.
