Golt, Gertrude (Marriage – 12 Oct. 1940)

St. Stanislaus church in Winona, Minn., was the scene of a fall wedding Saturday morning, October 12, when Miss Gertrude Golt, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Golt, 527 Chatfield Street, Winona, became the bride of Norbert Schommer of Owatonna, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Schommer of Colby, Wis.

The single-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. F. Cieminiski. The wedding march was played by Sister Mary Edward and the school choir sang during the mass. The bride was attired in a gown of white brocaded satin, fashioned with a full bouffant skirt and a long train. The draped bodice had a V-shaped neckline. The leg o’mutton sleeves were long and extended over the hand in a point. Her veil was of illusion, finger-tip length, and edged in valenciennes’ lace. The veil was arranged beneath a coronet of seed pearls. Her only jewelry was a gold cross, a gift of the bridegroom. She carried Easter lilies and Johanna Hill roses with long white streamers. The bride chose for her attendants her sister, Miss Dorothy Golt, and her cousin, Miss Marie Zeszewski. They wore slipper satin gowns. Miss Golt’s in fuchsia and Miss Jeszewski’s in blue. The bodices were draped and had square necklines and short puffed sleeves. They wore shoulder-length veils caught with yellow chrysanthemums. They carried yellow pompons and chrysanthemums. Patty Lou Mlyczak, niece of the bride, served as flower girl, and wore a blue floor-length dress with pleated neckline and sleeves, trimmed with fuchsia ribbons. She carried a colonial bouquet of carnations and yellow pompons. The bride’s attendants wore gold crosses, gifts from the bride.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Harold Schommer, and John Laski.

Mrs. Golt, mother of the bride, wore a brown dress and a shoulder bouquet of pink carnations and the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Schommer, wore a blue dress and shoulder bouquet of carnations.

The couple left on a trip to Northern Wisconsin, and, upon their return, will make their home in Owatonna, Minn., where the groom is employed.

Out of town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Schommer, parents of the bridegroom, and son, Harold, Colby, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Zillisch, Denmark, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Weingardt and son of Red Wing, Minn.
