Bishton, Mary Jane (14 Sept. 1856 – 2 June 1941)

Mary Jane Bishton, deceased, was born on Sept. 14th, 1856, at Neillsville, Wis. She was united in marriage to Louis Johnson at Unity in 1874 and they lived in the township of Green Grove for a number of years where Mr. Johnson passed away April 5, 1895, at the age of 45 years.

To this union seven children were born, five of whom preceded her in death.

Later Mary J. Johnson was united in marriage to William A. Bishton. She owned and operated “Mercer Lake Resort” at Minocqua for 45 years until her sight became impaired in 1939, resulting in the loss of both eyes. She was otherwise active and in good health until May 9th, 1941, when she fell and injured her hip, complications followed, which resulted in her passing away June 2, 1941, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 19 days. She was a very kind and devoted mother, friend and neighbor.

She leaves to mourn her loss, one son, Eugene Johnson, of Minocqua and one daughter, Mrs. J. M. Adams (Edna) of Ortonville, Minn., 18 grand children, 13 great grand children, 3 great-great grand children, 2 nieces, 1 nephew, 1 great niece, 1 great nephew and a host of friends.
