Laabs, Elvera Elizabeth (Marriage – 14 Oct. 1941)

In a ceremony performed at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 14, at the St. Peter’s Lutheran church, Dorchester, Elvera Elizabeth Laabs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Laabs, was married to Mr. Albert August Schultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schultz, Curtiss. Rev. J. Brandt performed the ceremony.

The bride was attired in a lustrous white slipper satin gown trimmed with chantille lace, with a sweetheart neckline, leg o’ mutton sleeves and a long train. Her long train veil and blusher veil were trimmed in deep lace and caught to a headdress of seed pearls. She wore white satin slippers and a pearl necklace and carried a bouqet of pom-poms and white lilies tied with a white satin bow.

Mrs. H. C. Klessig of Colby, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor and was attired in rhea blue slipper satin with lace over satin bodice sweetheart neckline, large puffed sleeves and full skirt. A rhea blue shoulder veil was caught with a coronet of flowers and she wore satin sandals to match and a pearl necklace.

Mrs. Clarence Schultz, Curtiss, sister-in-law of the groom, attended as bridesmaid wearing a light fuchsia gown similar to that worn by the matron-of-honor. The bride’s mother wore a black corded romaine dress with skinner satin bodice and corded romaine jacket. Her accessories were black and she wore a shoulder corsage of mixed flowers. The groom’s mother was attired in black silk crepe with black accessories and also wore a shoulder corsage of mixed flowers.

Mr. Clarence Schultz, Curtiss, a brother of the groom, was best man and Mr. H. C. Klessig, Colby, brother in law of the bride, was the other attendant. The Lohengrin Wedding March was played and Mrs. J. Habeck and Mrs. E. R. Erickson sang, “Oh Promise Me.”

A wedding dinner was served the immediate families at the Block Hotel at 6:45 p.m. The table was decorated with bouquets of cut flowers and a large 3 layer wedding cake centered the long table. A wedding dance was held at Hinke’s in the evening.

The couple will reside with the groom’s parents at Curtiss after returning from a week’s trip in Northern Wisconsin and will be at home after Oct. 22 at the groom’s farm. The bride graduated from Dorchester high school in 1935.

Among the out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kasper and sons, Jerome and Kenneth, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Klessig, LaVonne and Gerald, of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Rosenquist and daughter, Jeanette, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kuegler, of Stetsonville.
