Leichtnam, Alice (Marriage – 1 Nov. 1941)

A pretty wedding was solemnized at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran church at Abbotsford Saturday, November 1, when Alice Leichtnam, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Leichtnam, became the bride of Mr. Earl E. Prochnow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Prochnow. Rev. Lahedler of Athens performed the ceremony.

The bride was attired in a gown of white slipper satin, large leg of mutton sleeves, long train on dress and veil, lover’s knot bodice and points on hand. Her bouquet consisted of baby mums with a large orchid in the center and long white shower of white ribbons.

Miss Audrey Prochnow of Athens was maid of honor and she wore a white taffeta skirt, black velvet torso length top ending in points on the skirt, sweetheart neckline. Her bouquet consisted of white large long stemmed mums on long white showers of white ribbons and baby mums, headpieces of white baby mums on white ribbons. Mrs. Art Leichtnam of Abbotsford as matron of honor wore a dress identical to that of the maid of honor only in aqua skirt with black velvet torso and her bouquet consisted of bronze long stemmed mums on showers of aqua ribbon and bronze baby mums. Headpieces of bronze baby mums on small aqua ribbon. Miss Dorothy Prochnow of Milwaukee and Miss Marie Kraut of Curtiss were bridesmaids. Miss Prochnow wore an aqua skirt on black velvet torso, identical to others and her bouquet consisted of long stemmed mums on aqua showers tied with yellow baby mums. Miss Kraut’s dress was of aqua and black velvet torso, identical to the others. Her bouquet was similar to that of Miss Dorothy Prochnow.

The groom was attended by Art Leichtnam of Abbotsford as best man and David Neuman of Oconomowoc and Harold Stuhr of Athens as ushers.

Judith Leichtnam, niece of the bride, was flower bearer and carried a basket of white and yellow baby mums. Robert Leichtnam, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer and carried the rings on a white satin pillow.

A reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents, covers being laid for 85 people. The home was nicely decorated with a large three layer cake, streamers, white and yellow and aqua.

The newlyweds left on a wedding trip to Southern Illinois and surrounding states and will be at home after Nov. 9th at Athens, Wis., where the groom is a tavern and ballroom operator.
