Fremont – by Mrs. Gordon Davis

The Goldenrod Homemakers’ club met at the home of Mrs. William Happe, Jr. at Chili December 16. A social time was had and Christmas gifts were exchanged, after which Mrs. Happe served lunch. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Roy Jennings.

The Fremont Homemakers met Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Peter Rand. Eleven members were present and they cut quilt blocks for the hostess. After a short Christmas program, gifts were exchanged. Lunch was served. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. John Rollins.

Mrs. Henry Elmhurst, Sr., helped her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henry Elmhust, Jr., cook for wood sawyers Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Lee and son, Robert, drove to Rozellville Wednesday evening to see Corp. Wallace Czubin, who had been spending a few days’ furlough at the home of his brother, Joe, and family. Wallace had been stationed at a camp in Georgia and expects to be sent across when he gets back. Robert Lee and Everett Loos spent Monday evening there visiting with Wallace.

J. W. Reichert and Kermit Wilmer of Thorp called at the Henry Elmhurst home Friday and helped Henry install an electric motor and pump jack.

Lawrence Sanger arrived home Friday evening from Waverly, Ia., to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sanger.

Glenn Cole came home Sunday fro River Falls Normal School for his holiday vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cole, and his sister and brother.

Miss Celia Rollins, who has been working in Milwaukee for several weeks, is visiting at the John Rollins home.

Schools in this vicinity are closing Wednesday for a short vacation. All will begin January 4. Cozy Corners, Valley View, and Heathville each are having a program Wednesday evening.

Ward Vanderhoof, who is with the armed forces and has been visiting relatives in and around Spencer, called on Mr. and Mrs. Wellie Davis one evening last week.
