Surnames: Kading, Hoffmann, Lindner, Hanson, Bolen, Rowell, Lambe, Paterson, Frome, Manning ---Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 01/08/1942 Kading, Emil (8 Mar. 1869 – 7 Jan. 1942) Emil Kading died Wednesday morning at 4:00 o’clock at his home in Colby after being ill with heart trouble and complications for two years and two months. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 P.M., at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby and at 2:00 P.M. at the Zion Ev. Lutheran church in Colby, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery. The deceased was born in Watertown on March 8, 1869, thus reaching the age of 72 years and 10 months. He came to Colby about 50 years ago and cooked for about seven years for the Salter sawmill crew and in lumber camps. He was married to Miss Amelia Lindner in Colby on September 29, 1896, and, immediately after their marriage, moved onto a wild tract of land in the town of Hull which they built into a fine farm. They rented what is now the Hugo Frome farm until buildings were erected on their land. Mr. Kading also worked as a carpenter. In 1921, they sold their farm and moved to the city of Colby. Mr. Kading served the city as alderman for six years and was a trustee of the Zion Ev. Lutheran congregation for several years. Surviving are his widow and five children – Mrs. Emil Hanson of Cadott, Anton of Detroit, Mich., Ernest of Sheboygan, Lester of the town of Colby, Mrs. Milford Bolen of Stratford. Also one brother and four sisters – Max Kading of Watertown, Mrs. Joseph Rowell of Baudette, Minn., Lena Lambe, Ida Manning and Martha Paterson, all of Crandon, Wis.
