Curtiss - July 2, 1942

Miss Agnes Rued, employed in Chicago the past winter, returned to her home the latter part of the week.

Norman Jr. and Judson Matthias, sons, of Lt. Col. and Mrs. Norman A. Matthias, Atlanta, Ga., arrived here to spend the summer with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Matthias. Lt. Col. N. Matthias is with the U.S. Army Engineers at Trinidad.

Mrs. James Skinner, Bloomington, arrived here to spend several days with her son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Lau, and sons, Wayne and Mervin. Wayne will leave this week to be inducted into the army.

Edward Wigstad, who is employed on the farm of his brother in law and sister in Hoard, was injured last Thursday when a team he was driving on a hay tedder ran away. He was caught in the machine and had several bones broken in his legs and ribs.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Heibsch entertained their friends at a wedding dance at the village hall Monday evening, June 29th.

Mrs. Arthur Thompson entertained at a luncheon Sunday afternoon for Miss Anna B. Hanson, who left July 1st to attend school at Columbia University, New York. Others present were Misses Clara and Minnie Thompson, Helen and Emma Larson, Mrs. Fred Machlett, and Mrs. Frank Matthias.

John Erickson, Chicago, and Ethel Erickson, Eau Claire, are spending a weeks’ vacation with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Erickson.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Laabs spent Sunday at Neillsville, where they helped the latter’s mother, Mrs. Henry Eide, celebtated her birthday.
