Rankel of Chicago, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rankel of Colby, and Gustav Overbeck of Chicago were united in marriage at St. Mary’s parsonage in Colby on Saturday, September 5th, at 10:00 A.M., Rev. L. J. Lang reading the marriage ceremony. The bride was attired in a dress of white satin trimmed with Spanish lace, long slico, high neckline, long train, buttons down the back to waist. Her shower bouquet consisted of white gladiolas and pink roses. She wore a pearl necklace, gift of the groom. The maid of honor, Miss Helen Rankel of Chicago, sister of the bride, wore a dress of peach Harlene taffeta, double net skirt, floral headdress with shoulder length veil. Her garden bouquet consisted of pink gladiolas and white asters. The bridesmaid, Miss Mathilda Rankel, sister of the bride, wore a similar dress and headdress in aqua and her bouquet was also similar. Both also wore pearl necklaces, a gift of the bride. The groom was attended by Gilbert H. Bizner of Spencer and Geo. E. Rankel, brother of the bride. The men wore tuxedos. A reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents, the home being nicely decorated with peach, aqua and white streamers and garden flowers. A large wedding cake with candles was a centerpiece. In the evening a wedding dance was given at Wiedenhoeft’s pavilion. The couple will be at home after October 1st at 4945 N. Rackwell St., Chicago, Ill., where the groom is employed as a metallurgist. He is a graduate of Northwest University of Chicago.
