Hingiss, Catherine #2 (24 AUG 1940)

The Congregational Church of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) was the scene of a pretty early fall wedding Saturday afternoon when Miss Catherine Hingiss, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hingiss, town of Green Grove (Clark Co.), became the bride of Lawrence Scheel, youngest son of William Scheel, town of Green Grove.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W.P.D. Powe.

Little Beverly Scheel in a pale blue taffeta dress, niece of the bride and groom, led the wedding procession as ring bearer and flower girl. She carried the ring on a pillow of sweet peas and dropped flower petals in front of the bride. The bride followed on the arm of her father, who gave her in marriage.

The bride was attired in white brocaded satin with train. Her silk net veil was worn with a crown of seed pearls and diamond brocade. White gladioli and brides roses was her bouquet. Her bridesmaids followed dressed in blue chiffon with pink shoulder length veils and wrist corsage of sweet peas and roses were the flowers.

They were met at the altar by the groom and his attendants, William Hingiss Jr., a brother of the bride, and Addie Hardrath, a nephew of the groom.

Miss Betty Dike presided at the organ. Miss Rachel Halvorson sand “Oh Promise Me” and “The Dawning,” during the ceremony.

Approximately 70 relatives attended the dinner and reception held at the home of the bride’s parents following the ceremony.

After a short wedding trip the young couple will make their home in Chicago, where the groom is employed.
