Members of the Colby FFA chapter were one of the 37 teams participation in the 2007 National FFA Agricultural Issues Forum Career Development Event (CDE). The competition was held Oct 24-27 during the 80th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Those in attendance were Colby agriculture teacher and FFA advisor Gary Wirkus, team members Ethan Ensign, Jenny Halopka, Quinn Kaiser, Tony Meyer, Angie Pawlowicz, Rachel Sossaman and Brianna Suckow. The Agricultural Issues Forum is a result of local chapter efforts to investigate, analyze and communicate a position to the local community. It is one of 23 different national events that use the fun of competition to connect classroom learning to future careers. In addition to the team, six other Colby students attended the convention. On the way to Indianapolis. The chapter stopped in Chicago to tour the Sears Tower, Chicago Board of Trade and Navy Pier. They also visited the Indy 5000, the National FFA Center and other sites in Indianapolis. |
