Surnames: Heise, Grether, Bitters, Herrmann, Miller, Quist, Roth, Wiegman, Dittmeyer, Dix, Schueler, Wiedenhoeft, Zillmann, Duchow, Dunow, Larson,Voge Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 03/11/1943 Heise, George (22 Jan. 1866 – 4 Mar. 1943) Funeral services for George Heise, who died of complications and pneumonia at 12:02 A.M. last Thursday, March 4, were held Sunday at the Lulloff Funeral Home at 1:30 P.M. and at the First Evangelical and Reformed church at 2:00 P.M., Rev. D. Grether officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Harvey Bitters, Oscar Herrmann, Ernest Miller, Chas. Quist, Will Roth and Richard Wiegman. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Oscar Dittmeyer, Mrs. Oscar Dix, Mrs. Elsie Herrmann, Miss Frieda Schueler, Mrs. C. J. Wiedenhoeft and Mrs. Ed Zillmann. Mr. Heise was born at La Crosse, Wis., on January 22, 1866, thus reaching the age of 77 years, one month and ten days. He was married to Augusta Schueler at Oconomowoc, Wis., on Nov. 12, 1891. They moved here in 1901 and engaged in the business of farming in the town of Colby until 1919, when they moved onto the Voge farm. In 1939, they moved to the city of Colby. Mrs. Heise passed away on October 9th, 1940, and a daughter died in infancy. Surviving are three sons and one daughter, namely – Edward Heise of Oconomowoc, Bert Heise of South Milwaukee, Walter Heise of Milwaukee and Alvina Heise of Colby. Also two grand children – Kenneth Heise and Denis Heise. Out of town people here for the funeral were Herman and Frieda Duchow of Oconomowoc, Guy Dunow of Milwaukee, Otto Dunow of Owen and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larson of Wausau. The deceased was well and favorably known in Colby for his fine Christian character and kindly and congenial disposition which won him many friends who will miss him.
