Wiese, Helen Makdeline (Marriage – 9 June 1943)

Given in marriage by her father, Miss Helen Makdeline Wiese of Milwaukee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wiese, became the bride of Pvt. Frank Charles Wunsch, Camp Claiborne, La., son of Mrs. Rose Wunsch of Abbotsford Wednesday morning, June 9th. Rev. Francis Brockman read the double ring service before the nuptial high mass at 9:30 o’clock in St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Abbotsford.

Leading the bridal procession were Miss Valeria Lucas, of Milwaukee, dressed in a floor-length frock of pink voile and wearing pink and white carnations in her hair. She carried a bouquet of carnations, snap dragons and ferns.

Galen Sterzinger, Colby, carried the two rings on a satin pillow.

Miss Margaret Wiese, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and Miss Irene Wunsch, Milwaukee, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. They were dressed alike in Alice blue and canary yellow frocks of ninon over taffeta made with shirred bodice, sweetheart neckline and short puffed sleeves. Their hats were of matching net. They wore gold lockets and wrist corsages.

The bride wore a long sleeve gown of white satin, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline and tiny satin roses down the front. Her full skirt with long train was lace edged. A short face veil as well as the long lace edged veil fell from a tiara studded with rhinestones. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and white carnations showered with white snap dragons, larkspur and ferns. She wore a gold locket like those of her attendants.

Ervin Wunsch, brother of the groom, was best man and Harold Schommer of Colby was usher.

Corsages of pink and white carnations were worn by the mothers of the bride and groom.

At the offeratory of the mass, “Ave Maria” was sung as a solo by Mrs. C. T. Dolan.

Following the church ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents. The wedding dinner and reception were held at the farm of the brother of the groom and sister of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Wunsch. A five-tiered wedding cake, which was topped by a miniature soldier and his bride, and the two rings, was the center piece of the bridal table.

In the evening a wedding dance was held at Hildemayer’s dance hall near Medford.

Pvt. and Mrs. Wunsch will leave Sunday for Milwaukee where Mrs. Munsch is employed as crane operator at Kearney-Trecker. The groom who is on a 12-day furlough, will return to Camp Claiborne, La.

Guests at the wedding included near relatives from Abbotsford, Colby, Curtiss, Dorchester and Withee. From Milwaukee came the bride’s sister, Mrs. Val Lucas and her two daughters, Barbara and Valerie and four sisters of the groom, the Misses Irene, Marcella and Sylvia Wunsch, and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Drouth.
