(22 Aug. 1922 – 12 Jan. 2006) Edmund F. Maier Edmund F. Maier, 83, Thorp, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation in Eau Claire. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Thorp Funeral Home. * * * Source: Marshfield News Herald (Marshfield, Wood Co., Wis.) January 16, 2006 Edmund Maier Edmund "Ed" F. Maier, 83, of Thorp died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Clairement Nursing & Rehabilitation in Eau Claire. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Burial will follow in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Thorp Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. rosary service. Maier was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Thorp, the son of John and Helen (Schmidt) Maier. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and received his basic training at Homestead, Fla. He married Margaret "Marge" B. Bartosiewicz on Oct. 2, 2943, at Morrison Field Air Force Base. She preceded him in death April 27, 2002. Ed was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945 and eventually moved to the town of Withee, where the couple farmed for 37 years before retiring in August 1987. He is survived by four daughters, Carol Konieczny of Thorp, Debbie (Dale) Olson of Abbotsford, Cindy Maier (Rich Dusick) of Stanley and Noreen (Dale) Prokopiak of Thorp; three sons, Butch (Sharon) of Union Grove, and Larry and Terry, both of Thorp; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norm (Mary) of Brookfield, Jack (Myrna) of Milwaukee and Ken (Peggy) of Green Bay; and two sisters, Marge Sonnentag of Thorp and Merce Borton of Eau Claire. Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. |
