Obit: Gierl, Katherine (1935 – 1943)
Surnames: Gierl, Lang Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 12/09/1943 Gierl, Katherine (3 Sept. 1935 – 7 Dec. 1943) Katherine Gierl, age 8, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gierl of the town of Hull, died of infantile paralysis Tuesday morning at 1:00 o’clock at the isolation ward of the Marshfield hospital. She had been ill three days and entered the hospital Sunday. No other cases of infantile paralysis has been reported in this vicinity and the origin of the case is unknown. Private funeral services were held in Colby Wednesday, Rev. L. J. Lang, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic church officiating, and burial was made in the parish cemetery. The child was born on September 3, 1935, in the town of Hull. She was in the fourth grade of St. Mary’s parochial school in Colby and a member of the Juvenile Foresters. Surviving are her parents, a brother, Peter, and five sisters, Mary, Barbara, Dorothy, Patrici and Judith, all at home.
